Benelli M4 Tactical Shotgun
The 12 gauge (18.4 mm) shotshell cartridge is chambered in the semi-automatic, tubular magazine-fed Benelli M4 Tactical Shotgun. The upgraded ARGO (Auto-Regulating Gas Operated) Twin (two gas pistons/cylinders/ports) System with rotating bolt head and dual locking lugs is the operating system used in this weapon.
The laborious effort at Benelli’s Research and Development Center, along with Benelli’s significant experience in precise engineering and technical know-how, resulted in the Benelli Armi S.p.A. range of semi-automatic M4 shotguns. The M4 special variant has been selected by a number of local and international military and police forces for use in situations where the highest level of service reliability is required.
The new shotguns are very dependable and practical, simple to strip and maintain, and the M4 can be regarded as one of the most advanced, accurate, secure, and quick shotguns now on the market thanks to their few components and extremely straightforward operating principle.

The first gas-operated shotgun made by Benelli was the M4. The “auto-regulating gas-operated” (ARGO) system, an entirely new design, serves as the foundation for its operation.
The short-stroke design does away with the complicated mechanisms seen in other gas-actuated automatics by using two self-cleaning stainless steel pistons placed just front of the chamber to function in opposition to a revolving bolt. Only two symmetrical fore-end shrouds each contain two tiny steel pistons that push directly on the bolt, making up the entire ARGO.
The gun can also be used with shotshells of different lengths and power levels because it has self-regulating capabilities. Without any operator adjustments, it can fire 2.75 in (70 mm) and 3 in (76 mm) shells with various propellant loads in any combination. Low-power rounds, like less deadly baton rounds, must be manually cycled.

The military-style ghost ring sights may be adjusted on-the-fly with simply the shell’s rim. While maintaining use of the original iron sights, the MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail on top of the receiver enables use of both traditional optical sights and night-vision devices.
The shotgun’s modular design allows for the reconfiguration of several of its features as necessary. Without the need for extra tools, it enables easy changeover of the various assembly groups (barrel, buttstock, forend, etc.).
The M4 has demonstrated great levels of reliability in preliminary testing. It can operate consistently for at least 25,000 rounds without the need to repair any significant components. [2] [3] The weapon’s aluminum sections are matte hard-anodized, while the steel parts have a matte black phosphated corrosion-resistant finish. The visibility of the weapon during night operations is decreased by these finishes.

The weapon runs in all weather and climates and needs no maintenance.
Both the M1014 and the M4 Model (designated 11707) have a foldable buttstock. [4] [note 1] In addition to making the weapon easier to store and transport, collapsing the buttstock increases the weapon’s agility in confined spaces and over obstacles. Both pistol grip and semi-grip fixed stocks are also offered for the M4 and the M1014 respectively.
The skeleton buttstock (model M11707) for the M4 is no longer offered for sale to civilians. In the US, Benelli exclusively offers the M4 with a fixed pistol grip-style tactical stock; in Europe, you can order the M4 with a collapsible stock straight from the manufacturer. However, independent distributors provide the collapsible buttstock for sale.

The Law Enforcement (LE) division of Beretta includes Benelli Tactical. Sales of all tactical shotguns to military, government, and law enforcement organizations are overseen by Benelli Tactical. The M4 shotgun is available in three different configurations: the M4 Entry, which has a 14 in (360 mm) barrel, the M4, which has an 18.5 in (470 mm), and the M1014, which is an M4 with the designation “M1014” on it for exclusive military use. Benelli Tactical offers M4 shotguns with a foldable buttstock for sale.
The collapsible buttstock is still only to be made available to law enforcement and governmental organizations, according to Benelli Tactical and Beretta LE, despite the fact that it is no longer forbidden in the United States. These stocks will not be offered for sale to private persons by Benelli Tactical/Beretta LE. The stock piece for upgrading the pistol grip stock is available from Benelli Tactical for $150. Although the stock must be supplied directly from Italy, the United States has no restrictions on it or other aftermarket stocks.

[2] [6] Only the 14.5″ barreled model, which is regarded as a Short Barreled Shotgun or SBS, can be purchased or owned without an NFA stamp. Although it is feasible to equip 6+1 and two shot extension tubes are available from Benelli and other companies, the civilian version’s standard magazine capacity is 5+1. There are also 9+1 extension tubes, which are well-liked in 3-gun contests. On the secondary market, some LE models are now accessible to private individuals.Specifications
